Community Collaboration: May 1 Update on Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Posted on May 1, 2020 at 4:52 PM

The Glenview Northbrook Coronavirus Response team met earlier this week to discuss the impact on our community of the Governor’s extension of the stay-at-home order through May. The official order was released on April 30.

The Glenview Northbrook Coronavirus Response website provides information and resources for community members.

Update From NorthShore University HealthSystem

NorthShore University HealthSystem reports that e-visits, health hotline calls, and percentage of positive COVID-19 test results continues to grow. The hospitals continue to reach out to schools, civic groups, faith organizations and other groups to ensure that citizens know what the symptoms of COVID-19 are, and what to do if people experience any of the symptoms. Those who show symptoms (listed on our website) should:

  • Call 847-HEALTH9 (847-432-5849) and talk to a NorthShore clinical expert; or
  • Log onto NorthShoreConnect through the app on your mobile device or on the website (www.northshoreconnect.org/immediatecare).

In their outreach, they provided this letter to teenagers in our community.

NorthShore is grateful for the outpouring of support for their staff. The NorthShore website has information on how to make financial, critical supply and other donations. They recently updated the website to include a request for donations of cloth masks for patients and family members who are being discharged. You can drop off those donations at Skokie Hospital – Medical Office Building Entrance, ATTN:  Carsten Gudella, 9669 Kenton Ave. in Skokie, M-F, 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Community Needs

A testament to the strength and heart of our community is that the Northfield Township Food Pantry’s volunteer slots are filled through May. However, the financial need in our community is growing, and the Food Pantry welcomes donations to stock its shelves. Click here to make a financial donation or see what items are needed
